2016 Fave Books List

» 21 December, 2016 » Authors » 1 comment

It’s that time of the year again when we count down that books that made it to our Top Fave List for the year 2016.

You might notice that the list this year is considerably smaller, and there are several reasons for that.

One, I only read about 124 books this year. Compare that to my previous tally which was around 150 to 250 books from the previous years, it’s no wonder this year’s list only has 6 books in it.

Two, 2016 has been a wild and tumultuous year for all of us. I won’t elaborate any further but you guys know what I’m talking about, right?

That said, the books that did make it to this list are the books that made our hearts flutter; books that made us laugh and cry. These are the books that remained in our hearts and mind long after we finished reading them.

Listed in random order, I present to you The Racy Lit Reader’s Favorite Reads of 2016! Drum roll, please!

The Enforcer (Untamed Hearts #3) by Kele Moon

They are the lost boys.

Sons of mafia mistresses expected to keep their fathers’ sins in the shadows. The lucky ones are forgotten.

Unfortunately for Valentino “Tino” Moretti, his brother Nova was too smart to be forgotten, and too valuable to risk when he resists a life of crime. So they punished Tino instead. Forced into the cruel world of the Sicilian Mafia at twelve, Tino was broken before he was old enough to know the man he was supposed to be. Now he’s what the mafia made him.

The enforcer.

A trained killer forbidden to love, but he did anyway. He’s loved Brianna all along.

Raw and beautiful, their romance was all consuming and far too dangerous. They were ripped apart a long time ago. It’s not until the borgata puts out a hit on her that Brianna falls back into Tino’s arms, churning up their dark past and unraveling all the Moretti brothers’ closely guarded secrets.

This isn’t the end of the story. It’s only the beginning, and it is brutal.

There’s a reason enforcers are considered too deadly to love.

Steadfast (True North #2) by Sarina Bowen

She’s the only one who ever loved him—and the only one he can never have.

Jude lost everything one spring day when he crashed his car into an apple tree on the side of the road. A man is dead, and there’s no way he can ever right that wrong. He’d steer clear of Colebury, Vermont forever if he could. But an ex-con in recovery for his drug addiction can’t find a job just anywhere.

For Sophie Haines, coming face to face with the man who broke her heart is gut-wrenching. Suddenly, he’s everywhere she turns. It’s hard not to stare at how much he’s changed. The bad boy who used to love her didn’t have big biceps and sun-kissed hair. And he’d never turn up volunteer in the church kitchen.

She knows it’s foolish to yearn for the man who returned all the heartsick letters she wrote him in prison. But the looks he sends her now speak volumes.

No one wants to see Sophie and Jude back together, least of all Sophie’s police chief father. But it’s a small town. And forbidden love is a law unto itself.
