So…I’ve talked about this book in my last post, and as you all know I was very excited to read this. I always get nervous about reading a book that I’m very excited about because my excitement tends to get the better of me. And sometimes, I’d end up not liking the book and then I’d feel bummed out about it. Thankfully, this book delivered on everything it promised. There’s romance, and the feels…oh my God, my feels for this book. Simply put, This Heart of Mine captured my attention and my heart from beginning to end. So…5 stars!
I think it’s going to be an emotional reading week for me this week. I have two books on my queue that will probably gut me and send me spiraling into a huge book hangover. But guess what? I don’t care. I’m reading three awesome books this week. First up…This Heart of Mine by Brenda Novak.
Blurb A prince’s surprise twins may turn his royal marriage into something more? Prince Gabriel Alessandro’s top priority is continuing the family line, and he’s found the perfect bride-to-be in Lady Olivia Darcy. While their royal marriage is not based on love, he desires her. Making a baby together will be pure pleasure. Then Gabriel learns he is already a father to twins. Olivia surprises Gabriel with her acceptance of his motherless girls, making him believe their loveless union could blossom into something more. But Olivia’s agreement conceals a devastating secret. In danger of losing the dynasty he so desires, will he risk choosing love over duty?
I don’t know where to start. The only positive thing I could say about this book is the cover. It’s a pretty hot cover if I may say so myself. But other than that…eh. So what went wrong? Well, let’s see…
Hero has been on my most anticipated list for this year, so I was pleasantly surprised when NAL approved me for an electronic ARC of this book. I simply love Samantha Young’s writing. But first, let’s check out the blurb for Hero.
Leah Raeder will be releasing her second novel this coming April 28th 2015. It’s called Black Iris and the cover is gorgeous! Understated. Elegant. Mysterious. I am personally loving this cover. It fits with the dark themes of this book, which is according to her publisher, “a dark, sexy, romantic suspense”. It feels so ‘noir’ to me. Speaking of themes, Black Iris is about Laney Keating…
What is it about? I wasn’t supposed to love Nate Grady, let alone marry him. But we found a love that triumphed over all adversity…just like Jane Eyre, my very favorite heroine. I was young, bookish, naive…on the verge of entering the convent – and then I met him…. The day I abandoned my old life, the day I agreed to marry him, now seems an eternity ago. But despite everyone’s objections, I fell for Nate. An older, previously married man. My first and only love. My husband. When I looked into Nate’s eyes on our wedding day, the rest of the world vanished. If I was crazy for doing this, I prayed the craziness would last forever….
