Release Blitz {Top 5+Excerpt}: Split by J.B. Salsbury

Top 5 places/people that inspired Split 1. Payson, Arizona – A small mountain town about 80 miles from Phoenix. My grandparents live there so I’ve spent a good part of my life visiting. 2. Phantom and Raul from Phantom of the Opera. 3. My friend Amanda who the book is dedicated to. She loves reading thrillers and mysteries but she’s not a romance fan. I was challenged to write something she would love to read. 4. I’ve known a few people in my life who have struggled with mental illness, not to the degree that Lucas suffers, but enough that the concept of loving someone who has so many different sides inspired me. 5. Myself. I think many women feel like they have to act a certain way in certain circles. The duplicity of the female psyche is fascinating. Excerpt “You can’t jump.” She narrows her eyes on me. “Of course I can.” “Is it safe?” My grip on her grows tighter and she steps close enough that I can feel the heat of her breasts brush against my ribs. “Lucas, do you trust me?” “No.” The word comes out on a shaky whisper. A gentle grin softens her face and with both her hands she works to […]

Blog Tour {Q&A+Giveaway}: Mistletoe Cottage by Debbie Mason

MISTLETOE COTTAGE Q&A What was the most challenging part of writing MISTLETOE COTTAGE? Keeping the characters and secrets straight. Once I began writing the story, I’d change a character’s name because it no longer fit with who they were, and I’d forget to change throughout the book. And then there are the secrets from the past and deciding what to reveal now or what can wait until future books. Does any music/situations/media inspire your writing process? If so, what? I find music hugely inspiring and have a theme song and playlist for each book. The first thing I do when I sit down to write is play the book’s theme song and it immediately puts me in the story. What’s one thing that you enjoy most about writing? Least? What I love the most is when you write a detailed outline and your characters take the story in a totally different direction, or they reveal something to you and you have this magical aha moment. What I like the least is when I have to stop writing to take care of other aspects of the business. What was your favorite part of the book? I loved writing the book from three points of view. I don’t want to […]

Review: Ruled (Outlaws #3) by Elle Kennedy

Review: Ruled (Outlaws #3) by Elle Kennedy

Ruled was another steaming hot addition to Elle Kennedy’s erotic dystopian series. Reese has always been one of the series’ most interesting characters to read. Her backstory was a bit of a mystery in the previous books but was given prime importance here. In this book, readers get to know the depth of Reese’ motivation to take down not just the Enforcers but the whole “civilized” colony. Kennedy has never shied away from writing a complex female heroine that knows what she wants and isn’t afraid to get it. Reese was every bit as flawed and as complex as Kennedy’s previous heroines, if not more. Her inner conflict was surprising though because it seems so simple and quite clichèd in some ways. But if you consider her past and her relationship with her parent, I understood where she was coming from. In terms of romance, Ruled was a a bit subdued. I know coming in that this series was more erotica than romance so I wasn’t expecting much especially since this was a mfm/mmf pairing. The sexy times were hot though. What I did love was the Sloan-Reese dynamic. Like most readers, I wasn’t exactly sure about the nature of their relationship so it came as a pleasant […]

Release Day Blitz {Review+Giveaway): Fling by Jana Aston

Today we have Fling by Jana Aston, a sexy romantic comedy that releases today!! Grab your copy and enter Jana’s giveaway today!   About Fling: I have a crush on my boss’ best friend. At least it’s not my brother’s best friend. Or my best friend’s brother. Or… never mind. It’s all pretty cliche.   And worse? My boss’ best friend is his business partner. Which sort of makes him my boss too. Okay – it’s not sort of. It’s definite. Gabe Laurent is off limits. Totally off limits.   Which is fine. I make do with my imagination. He’ll never know. Ever. Unless my work bestie passes me an eighties-style teen movie sex quiz during a meeting and I fill it out.   And it ends up in Gabe’s hands…   My Review I knew just based off the synopsis of the book that Fling was going to be a fun read! I mean, who can resist a good falling for my boss’ best friend story? Not I. Fling was a short read, which was perfect. Now this book, according to the author is an ode to the John Hughes’ well loved ’80s teen film Sixteen Candles. I loved Sixteen Candles and while this story does have […]

Blog Tour {Review+Giveaway}: Thief of Hearts (Hearts #5) by L.H. Cosway

One of the things that I like about LH Cosway is that she writes unique stories and characters. Thief of Hearts is a great example of what makes LH Cosway work for me and a lot of readers. The book follows the story between a young widow, Andrea Anderson and an ex-convict, Stu Cross. Andrea has something or someone that Stu wants, and he’ll do just about anything to get it, including enrolling in an adult learning class that Andrea teaches. His plan was simple: seduce Andrea and then accomplish his goal. Sounds simple, right? Unfortunately, everything changed when Stu got to know Andrea very deeply, and his plan just became complicated. I love stories where the hero sets out to seduce the heroine but ends up being the one who is seduced (in every sense of the word) instead. Stu might be a genius when it comes to complex mathematical equations but his genius is not match for the sizzling attraction and chemistry that burned between him and Andrea. And it’s delightful to watch a hero being brought to his knees his Stu did. Thief of Hearts started of slow. Not surprisingly since Andrea is still hesitant to move on and start another relationship after the death […]
