From the author of Fly with Me and the Capital Confessions Novels comes the newest in the sexy Wild Aces Romance series.
Eric Jansen—call sign Thor—loves nothing more than pushing his F-16 to the limit. Returning home to South Carolina after a tragic loss, he hopes to fix the mistake he made long ago, when he chose the Air Force over his fiancée.
Becca Madison isn’t quick to welcome Thor back. She can’t forget how he shattered her heart. But Thor won’t give up once he’s set his sights on what he wants—and he wants Becca.
Thor shows Becca that he’s no longer the impulsive boy he used to be, and Becca finds herself irresistibly drawn to him. But will Thor be able to walk away from his dream of flying the F-16 for their love or does his heart belong to the sky?
I discovered and fell in love with Chanel Cleeton’s writing when I read her Capital Confessions series. Her stories are a perfect mix of sweet with a touch of angst thrown in.
Into the Blue perfectly represents what makes this author work for me.
Becca Madison and Eric Jansen are two people who are in love with each other but are being pulled in different directions by their ambition and their quest to find themselves. They went from being in love and engaged to nothing. Eric walked away to become a F-16 fighter pilot while Maddie stayed home to become a successful lawyer.
The devastation that it brought almost destroyed Maddie. She was the one who was left behind. While I’m not saying that Eric heart wasn’t affected, at least he had everything to gain in their break-up.
It took me a while to warm up to Eric’s character, to be honest. I thought that the way he broke up with Maddie was shitty and the fact that he stayed away for 10 years made me question his love for Maddie at first. I understood his motivation but it’s still heartbreaking to see how much it destroyed Maddie.
But Ms. Cleeton was able to show readers the growth of his character, and he was able to prove his love for her, in my opinion. There were several heartbreaking moments where I felt like they had no way out of it. Like none at all because the alternative solution would be a cop-out in a way.
But Ms. Cleeton was able to bring their story full circle and gave me what I crave for in my books: HEA. The journey was well worth it because of that ending.
