Review: Good Boy (WAGs #1) Elle Kennedy & Sarina Bowen

I have a soft spot for heroines who are struggling to find the right career or find the right person or generally just finding somewhere to belong. Jessica Canning grew up in the boisterous Canning clan, who are in Jess’ mind, “a bunch of overachievers.” She’s restless and totally freaked out that she hasn’t found her calling, so to speak, yet. Blake Riley is the exact opposite. Confident and self assured, Blake goes tackles life with gusto. When he meets Jess, he immediately pursues her the only way he knows how: by putting himself on her way and being obnoxious whenever possible. Admittedly, I wasn’t fan of Blake at first. He’s too loud. And too obnoxious. But man oh man, halfway through the book, I started to get all the feels for Blake and was into team Jeblake all the way. Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy continues to be a powerhouse writing team, churning out fun, hilarious and sweet romances like the boss that they are. I loved the interaction between the characters, the little hockey tidbits, and I get to see Jamie and Wes again enjoying their HEA. Good Boy is going to be the first book in the new Him spinoff series called WAGs. And just […]

Review: Ruled (Outlaws #3) by Elle Kennedy

Ruled was another steaming hot addition to Elle Kennedy’s erotic dystopian series. Reese has always been one of the series’ most interesting characters to read. Her backstory was a bit of a mystery in the previous books but was given prime importance here. In this book, readers get to know the depth of Reese’ motivation to take down not just the Enforcers but the whole “civilized” colony. Kennedy has never shied away from writing a complex female heroine that knows what she wants and isn’t afraid to get it. Reese was every bit as flawed and as complex as Kennedy’s previous heroines, if not more. Her inner conflict was surprising though because it seems so simple and quite clichèd in some ways. But if you consider her past and her relationship with her parent, I understood where she was coming from. In terms of romance, Ruled was a a bit subdued. I know coming in that this series was more erotica than romance so I wasn’t expecting much especially since this was a mfm/mmf pairing. The sexy times were hot though. What I did love was the Sloan-Reese dynamic. Like most readers, I wasn’t exactly sure about the nature of their relationship so it came as a pleasant […]

Review: The Goal (Off Campus #4) by Elle Kennedy

**There will be spoilers for the previous book, The Score. So if you’re planning to or haven’t read The Score yet, skip reading my review until you do so because some of the events in that book will be discussed here. But if you’re planning on skipping The Score but want to read this book, then go ahead. It took me a while to settle on my rating for this book. I was waffling between 3.5 stars to 4 stars. I had some issues but at the same time, I really, really liked the characters. It took me days to settle on 4 stars. I liked it but it definitely wasn’t my favorite in the series. First off, I had some issues with the pacing especially during the first half. The first half kind of lagged a little bit. The second half though was much tighter plot-wise and character-wise. The Goal was unexpected in many ways. If you’ve read The Score, then you know that Tucker had gotten Sabrina pregnant. We didn’t know how that happened since Sabrina and Tuck didn’t really interact that much in the other books in the series. This book gives us the story that we were unaware of until Tucker dropped that bomb […]

Review: Addicted by Elle Kennedy

I don’t smoke but hot damn, reading this book made me want to pick up a cig ‘coz yanno post-coital smoke thing is…or was a thing. I suppose. But… I’m totally getting derailed here but anyhoo, Addicted was HOT. As in capitalize and bold that part right there. And if you’ve been a fan of Elle Kennedy’s Out of Uniform series, then you’d know that this girl can write HOT. Multiply the hotness level of that series by 10 and you’ll get this book. Addicted is the second installment from Kennedy’s new dystopian erotic romance series called Outlaws. Now, a bit of a disclaimer here: I didn’t read book one. But I was still able to get the subplots in the series and get to know a few of the side characters, so no worries there. That said, I would definitely recommend reading book because it adds a bit more depth in understanding the world that EK has created. The story is set in a harsh, post apocalyptic world. America is no more, there is only the Colony. The Outlaws are a group of people who live outside the main civilization where personal freedom is severely limited. Lennox and Jamie are best of friends. They grew up together […]

Release Day Alert: Us (Him #2) by Elle Kennedy & Sarina Bowen

Wes and Jamie are baaack! And they’re hotter than ever! Check out the blurb and excerpt below. EXCERPT At long last, I’m twenty paces away, then ten. Then I’m opening our door. “Hey babe!” I call out like I always do. “I made it.” I drag my duffel over the threshold, then toss my suit coat on top, abandoning these things beside the door, because all I need now is a kiss. Only then do I notice that our apartment smells amazing. Jamie has cooked dinner for me. Again. He is the perfect man, I swear to God. “Hey!” he calls, emerging from the hallway leading to our bedroom. He’s wearing jeans and nothing else except—and this is unusual—a beard. “Do I know you?” He gives me a sexy smile. “I was going to ask the same thing.” I’m staring at the sandy-blond beard. Jamie has always been clean-shaven. I mean—we’ve known each other since before facial hair. He looks different. Older, maybe. And hot as blazes. Seriously, I can’t wait to feel that beard against my face, and maybe my balls… Jesus. The blood is already rushing south, and I’ve been home fifteen seconds. And yet I’m just stuck there in the middle of the room for […]
