Release Blitz {Spotlight+Excerpt}: Almost a Bride by Jo Watson

Excerpt I knew something was wrong the second I walked up to my front door. Call it intuition. Call it a sixth sense. But I just knew. I blame the shoes. The shoes were undoubtedly the cause of all the problems that day. It was the shoes’ fault that I came home early, and the shoes’ fault I was fired. I suppose I can’t blame the shoes for making me late, though—that was the alarm clock’s fault for rudely deciding not to do its job. And when I finally realized, through the thick haze of sleepiness, that it hadn’t gone off, it was too late. I was already late for work. And when I say work, I mean my brand-new job—job of my dreams—as a fashion assistant at Glamorous Girl mag. I’d just made a total career change, leaving behind a successful job as a stylist in advertising to pursue a job in the magazine industry. It was early days, so I was still desperately trying to impress by being perfect, polite, and oh so obliging. Whether it was the request for the latte to be served at 97.7 degrees with no sugar, soy milk froth, and a sprinkling of organic cocoa powder flown in directly from the […]

Release Blitz {Spotlight+Review}: Completely Yours by Erin Nicholas

Review   In this delightfully sweet novel, Erin Nicholas explores the age-old question: Can two people who have two completely different interests really make a relationship work? Kiera Connolly is graphic designer who lives a socially quiet life but has a thriving online gaming persona. Zach Ashley is her opposite. Outgoing and popular, Zach is an EMT with a bit of a hero complex. Okay. Not a bit, but a huge hero complex. He’s a fixer. A rescuer. The attraction was instant the moment Zach rescued Kiera from a disastrous event. But Kiera knows well enough that Zach isn’t the kind of guy who would appreciate her quirks or geekiness. And she won’t change even for someone who’s as attractive and sweet as Zach. She’s been there and done that. But as they continue to spend their time together, Zach and Kiera discovers that opposites truly do attract. If only they could find a way to let go of their preconceived ideas about each other. I enjoyed this book from page one until the very end. It started off slow but it builds slowly until I was immersed and invested in the characters. I loved how the author focused on the character’s motivation instead of just throwing one […]

Blog Tour {Q&A+Giveaway}: Mistletoe Cottage by Debbie Mason

MISTLETOE COTTAGE Q&A What was the most challenging part of writing MISTLETOE COTTAGE? Keeping the characters and secrets straight. Once I began writing the story, I’d change a character’s name because it no longer fit with who they were, and I’d forget to change throughout the book. And then there are the secrets from the past and deciding what to reveal now or what can wait until future books. Does any music/situations/media inspire your writing process? If so, what? I find music hugely inspiring and have a theme song and playlist for each book. The first thing I do when I sit down to write is play the book’s theme song and it immediately puts me in the story. What’s one thing that you enjoy most about writing? Least? What I love the most is when you write a detailed outline and your characters take the story in a totally different direction, or they reveal something to you and you have this magical aha moment. What I like the least is when I have to stop writing to take care of other aspects of the business. What was your favorite part of the book? I loved writing the book from three points of view. I don’t want to […]

Teaser Blitz: Mistletoe Cottage by Debbie Mason

Sophie scanned the bar for Liam. The tables on either side of the room were all taken, wooden barrels serving as chairs. Servers carried trays over their heads, weaving through the people crowded on the dance floor. Drinking beer and talking, they waited for the band tuning up on the raised stage. When she was younger, Sophie had snuck into the bar a couple times to hear Liam and his brothers’ band. The owner had always spotted her and thrown her out for being underage. “Get up there, Gallagher,” several people called out. Sophie heard a familiar, deep laugh and went up on her tiptoes, following it to a table a few feet to the right of the stage where Liam sat. Sophie was about to turn to Ava and Dana and point him out when she felt herself being maneuvered through the crowd toward the stage.  “You have got to be kidding me,” she yelled to be heard over the crowd. “You set me up!” “You were always trying to sneak in here to hear him sing. Now’s your chance.” Ava shrugged. “You know what they say about payback, right?” But she wasn’t thinking about payback when Liam got up on the stage and accepted a guitar […]

Q&A with Four Letter Word Author, J. Daniels!

Q&A with J. Daniels Have you ever accidentally dialed the wrong number and ranted at them before? Never! Although, if I did, I would feel just as bad as Syd does. What was your favorite scene to write in this book? Probably when Brian and Syd finally meet face-to-face. The build up to that, the chemistry between them that you can feel when they first see each other, it was just pure magic. I loved it. Chocolate or vanilla? Vanilla in terms of ice cream. Chocolate in terms of every other sweet. Who was your favorite character to write? Syd. She was so quirky and fun and honest. I loved how she would ramble and how her heart was so open. She loved instantly, and I loved her for that. What’s the best part of being an author? I get to put my crazy thoughts onto paper and people actually want to read them. Hearing readers say they enjoy my books still blows me away. I’ll never get used to that. Aside from the hero and the heroine, which character did you love writing about? God, what a jerk! I love him so much. His banter with Tori killed me. I love those two. Name a book on […]

Blog Tour {Top 5 List}: Furious Rush by SC Stephens

Blog Tour Top 5 List Top 5 favorite songs or artists? Imagine Dragons. I love all their songs, but when I saw them in concert, I was blown away. The lead singer performs exactly how I picture Kellan performing. It was a surreal experience. Linkin Park. The sound of this band (on a lot of their songs) is exactly how I imagine the D-Bags sounding. LP will always hold a special place in my heart. Plus their concerts are amazing! They sound just as good live. These guys were on constant repeat while I was writing the Thoughtless trilogy. I love them with all my heart. And I got to stand thisclose to Ryan Tedder during a meet and greet. Awe-some. Old Dominion. My honey-boo has been slowly getting me into country music. I just picked up their album, and I love every song! I also love the fact that the scratch and sniff bacon sticker on the cover smells like cotton candy (the album is called Meat and Candy—haha!). Every Avenue. I cried the day this band broke up, and I did an all-day Twitter celebration on the day of their last concert. A fan turned me on to the band after Thoughtless was released, and I […]
