ARC Review: Stay Until We Break (Hub City #2) by Mercy Brown

“The only problem with having Cole McCormack as your chronic masturbation fantasy is that he’s everybody’s chronic masturbation fantasy—and he knows it.” I have been waiting for Cole and Sonia’s story ever since I’ve read Loud is How I Love You a few months ago. I knew their story was going to be good and hot. I expected it just based on the chemistry they had going on. What I did not expect was the gut wrenching, emotional punch it brought. It slayed me. I did not expect that. Stay Until We Break starts off with a bang. Stars on the Floor are on the road, hoping to catch a big break and get signed by a label, make their dreams come true. For Cole and Sonia, it’s a chance to explore the attraction they’ve had for one another. But Sonia isn’t quite sure about Cole because one, he’s a rock star with a reputation. Two, she’s not at all the confident girl she wanted to be, or the kind of girl that a guy like Cole would notice. For Cole, it’s much more complicated than that. He’s torn between pursuing his dream and his passion and his responsibilities. My heart just broke for him. I though he […]

TRLR Hit List: Contemporary Romances Set Outside the US

I have a confession to make. This post has been languishing in draft folder for a while now, and it wasn’t until last night that I finally got to finish writing it. Hurrah! *throws confetti in the air* So here it is. TRLR’s Hit List. First up, contemporary romance set outside the US, and let me tell you guys that I’ve read and loved everything on this list. I have to add a disclaimer though. All the books included on this list are books that I’ve read personally. So if you don’t see your fave books here, don’t fret. It might be because I haven’t read it yet. So if you think your fave book belongs on this list, tell me about it in the comments section and I’ll be adding it to my TBR. Now on to the Hit List. In random order. On Dublin Street Series by Samantha Young (On Dublin Street, Until Fountain Bridge, Down London Road, Before Jamaica Lane, Fall From India Place, Echoes of Scotland Street, Moonlight on Nightingale Way) When I started thinking about this post, the series that came to mind immediately were Samantha Young’s On Dublin Street series. These interconnected standalones are set against the backdrop of beautiful Edinburgh. The […]

TRLR’s Top 10 Books of 2015

The year 2015 ended a few hours ago. But before I begin another reading journey for 2016, I want to look back at 2015 and the amazing books I’ve read and share them with you. 255 – That’s the official number of books I’ve read this year. 68, 582 – The number of pages I’ve read this year. 3.2 – My average star ratings on Goodreads. I gave 5 stars to 13 books this year, and sadly, gave 1 star to 28 others. Nevertheless, I consider 2015 to be a good year for me. I’ve read a lot of great books and some not so great books. But all of them, in some way or another, left a mark on me. And for that, I am extremely grateful. 2015 was also the year where I started reading a lot of darker and edgier stuff. Books like Corrupt by Penelope Douglas or Ruin & Rule by Pepper Winters would have been a hard no for me before, but now, I know I can read dark books and even enjoy them tremendously. So I’ll definitely continue reading darker and edgier books this year. As much as I enjoyed venturing into dark territory, my reading heart would always beat for contemporary […]

Review: Untamed (Thoughtless #4) by SC Stephens

Title: Untamed Author: SC Stephens Series: Thoughtless #3 Buy Links: Amazon | iBooks Rating: A The spotlight doesn’t only shine. Sometimes it burns. Being the bad-boy bassist for the world’s hottest band has earned Griffin Hancock some perks: a big house, a fast car, and most importantly his incredible wife, Anna. The one thing it hasn’t brought him is the spotlight. Anna tells him to be patient, that his talent will win out. But Griffin is through waiting for permission to shine. Without warning, Griffin makes a shocking decision and takes the gamble of a lifetime. Suddenly he’s caught up in a new level of lights, cameras, and chaos. One that pushes his relationship with Anna to its limits. Anna has always found his unpredictable behavior sexy, but lately he’s seen an ache in her eyes–and it has his soul in knots. Just as the recognition Griffin seeks is finally within reach, the thing he loves most in life could be slipping through his fingers… I know, I know. I’m surprised myself but this book was amazing! This isn’t Kellan & Keira 2.0. If you’re expecting another rehash of the angst in that series, think again. This book totally has a different feel to it and I found […]

Review: Paper Hearts (Hearts #2) by Claire Contreras

Title: Paper Hearts (Hearts #2) Author: Claire Contreras Genre: Contemporary Romance Release Date: September 9, 2015 Buy Links: Amazon | iBooks Rating: A+ SYNOPSIS I lost her. No, I didn’t lose her. I threw her away. She was my best friend. I was never supposed to fall in love with her. I was careless. She was heartbroken. I was doing fine until she came back into my life and reminded me what love was supposed to feel like. When it’s all said and done, she may not want to stay, but this time I’m going to do everything in my power to not let her go. “Real love stories never end.” I had high expectations when it came to Jensen and Mia’s story, and Claire Contreras delivered flawlessly. The exquisite writing, the flawed yet relatable characters and the beautiful second chance love story is what makes Paper Hearts an unforgettable read for me. When I read Kaleidoscope Hearts and met Jensen and Mia, it becomes apparent that there’s something between them and that it went bad. So bad that Mia still refuses to be civil to Jensen even after five years. Claire Contreras gave us a glimpse of what went wrong with Jensen and Mia in Torn Hearts. […]
